Cataract Extractions
Cataracts are the most common cause of reversible blindness worldwide. With the passage of time, the lens you were born with, which focuses light upon the retina, tends to become cloudy and interfere with vision. The problem can be eliminated with surgery to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a clear, artificial lens.
With our doctors, Henry J. Kriegstein, MD and Lois M. Townshend, MD, Cataract surgery is performed with relaxing medication, allowing the patient to doze during the procedure. Patients may resume most normal activities the same day. Patients may resume driving the next day when the relaxing medication wears off or as vision improves. Cataract surgery is performed at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Cape Cod, Heritage Park, Sandwich MA.
